#43- Make a cool scarf

Well, after about 3 years, it's finally done. Yes, I have been working on this for a while. It was going to be a gift to some guy but he got married so I decided to keep it for myself. haha! I learned how to crochet quite a while ago and made a pink scarf for my mom but it wasn't very pretty. It was my first one so was uneven and just... interesting looking. She loved it though, as all mom's would. However, it wasn't very "cool." I have really come to like the color gray because it is one of the few colors that matches everything, in my opinion. So here it is, my cool scarf.

This is it folded in half and is probably the way I'll wear it.

This is really how wide it is hence the reason why it took a couple years!

Being almost midnight, I didn't feel like modeling my scarf so left that job up to my trusty bear!

#66- Eat at In-N-Out

Joe Heeb, Kristen Grover, Daniel Bullock, and I all went to Vegas this weekend. On Thursday the 11th we went to In-N-Out Burger which was really nice of Joe and Kristen because they don't even like burgers. I didn't have a voice so Joe ordered for me. "He" ordered a Double Double animal style with fries and a drink. It took a while but I finally got my In-N-Out. Daniel asked for the "special" sauce for me. The person asked how many packets and he said, "I don't know, like 5?" They looked at him wide eyed and then handed him these huge packets of special sauce. It was so funny because we had no idea how big they were. Anyway, I finally ate In-N-Out and you know what? I don't get what the big deal is. I went in with an open mind and was semi disappointed. The burger was good but too pickle heavy. The fries were okay but kind of soggy and not impressive. It was just an average burger joint to me. I actually like 5 Guys a lot better. Oh well, I'm glad I tried it but still don't understand what all the hype is about. Maybe people just grow up eating In-N-Out and then are freaked out when they taste a burger that is different than it. Who knows.

Here is the sign

Me with my meal and the huge sauce is at the back of the tray

#68- Carve a Watermelon

Today Brian and I decided to cross something off my Bucket List. We tried going to the Drive In but it was closed and pretty ghetto anyway. So we decided we wanted to carve a watermelon. We went to Broliums in search of a watermelon and they didn't have any but we soon found out that Albertsons was our store. We were looking online for a design idea and saw a brain. Loving anatomy and the human body like I do, I decided I wanted to do it. It took pretty long and was a whole lot harder than it looks but I think we did a pretty good job!

Here is the finished product. It took about 2 hours

What fun is carving a brain if you can't eat it afterwards? haha!

#40- Ride a Tandem bike

Today Joe Heeb and I decided to go to Estes Park to do some exploring. We were about ready to go but Joe wanted to drive by the lake. We were driving by and I saw this cook bike/car looking thing so told him to turn around. Then behind the weird car thing we saw it. A tandem bike. We went in and saw that it was only 8 dollars to rent it for 30min. So we did but were told part of the lake was uphill. The bike was a lot harder to ride than it looks. I tried to be in the front but couldn't hack it so Joe was the entire time. It was so fun and we were laughing so much. We did have to walk some of it since it was only a one gear bike. It was super fun and what is even cooler is that Joe and I crossed something off that was on both of our lists!

#7- Go to a General Conference

In my fall semester of 2009 I had the opportunity to attend a General Conference and not just one session but TWO of them. The first one was on Saturday October 3, 2009. Cody and I arrived and had pretty good seats. We were on the second or third row on the second level all the way to the left. I just couldn’t believe how huge it was! WOW! It was so neat to be in the presence of so many apostles and be able to sustain them. My favorite talk was by Neil A. Anderson http://lds.org/conference/talk/display/0,5232,23-1-1117-14,00.html
After conference Cody and I walked around Temple Square and took a lot of pictures. On Sunday we were able to go to the morning session. That means we were there for Music and the Spoken Word. It was so amazing and we had such good seats!!! The acoustics were perfect where we were sitting. They sang two of my favorite songs. My Shepherd Will Supply My Need and Come Thou Fount. Conference was amazing even though we were tired. I am so thankful I had the opportunity to go and think that everyone should go if they get the chance!

#10- Ride on a Motorcycle

In my fall semester of 2008 this guy Seth came over. He knew Denise and Carrie. He came on his motorcycle and gave this girl a ride. He was leaving for the night and before he left Carrie mentioned that it was on my bucket list to ride on one. He promised that he would come back and give me a ride. Sure enough, a few days later he knocked on our door and asked if I was ready for a ride. I said yes and got on my jacket. I asked where to hold on because I’m retarded. He said, “To me.” Yeah, it was embarrassing. It was fun and I loved the feeling of wind in my hair. He took me around campus. He asked me if I wanted to try and drive but I said no. I was too scared and didn’t even know the concept behind it so didn’t want to try. We talked the whole time. It was kind of hard though because it was loud. Anyway, it was way fun and I like motorcycles now.
I don't exactly remember what the motorcycle looked liked but I think it was kind of older since he fixed them up.

#13- Sleep on a Trampoline

In winter semester of 2009 I was done with clean checks. I was planning on going to Utah but didn’t have a place to stay for that night because we had to be out of our apartments. Brady said I could stay at his house in Idaho Falls. It was Chris’ Birthday so he came and spent the night too. We stayed up really late playing games and watching movies. Brady had a trampoline. We went out and played this fun superhero game where you run around in a circle and try to step on the person’s cape aka blanket in front of you. We were playing all these games and then got way tired and just laid down. We had blankets and I was in the middle of Chris and Brady so was pretty warm. I told them I’d never slept on a trampoline before and they thought I was crazy. I told them it was on my Bucket List. So we talked forever under the stars and eventually we fell asleep in this mass pile on the trampoline. It was so warm and cozy. We woke up around 4:00am and went inside because we were way cold but I did sleep on a trampoline.

#15- Finish one of the songs I started Writing

In the winter semester of 2008 our final was an individual project of our choice. We could do anything pertaining to the Book of Mormon. I had an idea for a song for a long time but never took the time to get it out. Later that day I went to the Snow building and started figuring out my song. It was a neat experience because the words and music just started coming. I felt the Savior’s love while writing this song. The last two days of classes we had to present our final projects. I was very nervous and went to the front of the class and said that this was the first song I had ever written. I sat down and started to play. It was a neat experience and my testimony rang through. My friends really liked the song and said I did a great job. Here are the lyrics to my song called He Died for Me:

Why, why did he die,
just to save my life?
How, how did it feel,
the worry, pain, and strife?

I looked in his eyes,
the sadness was there.
What he did for me,
was beyond compare.

He died for me
He died for me

Why, why did he care,
that much for me?
What, what did he bear,
In Gethsemane

He suffered it all
and showed us the way,
So we could repent,
and live with Him some day

He died for me
He died for me

He died to save us
From all of our sins
He died to rescue us
From sorrow that’s within

I can’t repay Him
For what He gives
But it’s not over
Because… He lives!

He inviteth all
to come unto him
So we can have life
and return again

He lives for me

#16- Invent Something Useful

So I don’t know if this has already been invented or not but I have come up with it on my own. I don’t know how to make it big but I think it would be useful. I have invented timed texting. I hate when I’m up late and don’t want to wake someone up by texting them but don’t want to have to remember to text them in the morning. So I have invented a timer on a text. You set a certain time that you want to send the text and as long as your phone is on it will send without you having to do anything! I ended up sending the idea to Verizon but who knows.
Here is my current phone: The chocolate 3

#17- Create an A' Cappella Group

In the fall semester of 2008, Carrie’s friend Brady came over. They were talking about A’ cappella and Carrie mentioned that I loved it. She called me out and the three of us listened to music for over 2 hours. I told Brady about my list and how I thought it would be awesome to create a group at BYU-Idaho. He said, “Well, why don’t you?” I was kind of shocked by his response. What was holding me back? Brady happened to be the lowest and most talented bass I could have hoped for. He said he would be in the group and find people for it. It was a long process getting it started but we did and performed for the nursing home Christmas party at the end of the semester. The group continued on into the winter semester as well. We were a lot better and performed a couple more times. The name “My A’ cappella” stuck and the group is still in operation even though I am not there.

This is when we sang at Nashville nights. We got a standing ovation and an encore. We were then voted to sing at Best of Show and it was awesome.
This was the group last winter with Dave and Cory as the new additions. Yes, if you were wondering, the green was my idea!

#23- Play 100 hymns in the hymnbook

I have now been the ward organist for 3 summers in a row. Because I’ve had this calling, practicing the piano has been a bigger priority in my life. I felt very inadequate to do this calling but have seen the blessings pour from it. I have been better at sight reading and am able to learn hymns faster. I went through the hymnbook and can play over 100 hymns now thanks to my calling!
This is me playing a hymn at the visitor's center in Salt Lake

#37- Go to a really scary place

I went to a haunted place called the Haunted Mill. I went with Denise, Carrie, Thomas, Jake, and Jake’s friend. It was super scary. The scariest part was we were walking and this monster said, “Lisa!” I was creeped out. I then said, “Did that monster just say my name?” Then it said, “Lisa Baer.” I later found out it was my friend who worked there. Ahhh!!!

#39- Ride on a 4-wheeler

We went to this random house for a bon fire. They used 4-Wheelers to get around. Carrie said to a hott guy, “Hey, Lisa has never been on one. Will you help her cross something off her bucket list?" The guy told me to hop on. I didn’t know where to hold on and he finally told me around his waist was best. Awkward! Haha! It was super fun though! Since then I have driven them several times.
Don't worry, the guy was hotter than this. This is just a random picture I found.

#41- Attempt to beat/ set a Guinness World Record

I went to Provo with my friends. They were having a girl’s night but I didn’t know most of them. J and Jazon were with me and we were trying to decide what we should do. I suggested marshmallows and toothpicks. J said that gumdrops worked better. So we texted ChaCha to see if there was a record for the tallest gumdrop and toothpick tower and they responded, “There is no record of the highest toothpick/ gumdrop structure. If you’re bored, you and your friend could compete for the tallest.” So we went to the store and pitched in and bought a bunch of toothpicks and gumdrops. We started around 9ish and got done at 4 in the morning. It really didn’t stand up by itself. It was super heavy but we measured it to be 5 feet tall! It was so much fun! Then after we took tons of pictures we smashed it and were just laughing the entire night! I’m tagged in tons of the pictures on facebook!

#42- Learn to play a song on the guitar

Kaity taught me how to play, “You are my Sunshine.”

#50- Go Snowboarding

The first time I went Kinzee, Denise, Kaity, Tyler, and I went. Everyone left me except for Kaity. She even let me borrow her snowboard. We went down the bunny hill but it was not steep at all so I couldn’t get any momentum. She then suggested we go on the big one. Getting on the lift was so scary!!! Getting off was worse because I totally fell! Haha! The hardest part was getting up when I fell down. I finally got down the hill. The second time we went down I didn’t fall at all and was so proud of myself! I LOVED it so much!

Me, Denise, and Kaity (my wonderful teacher)

#51- Go Snowmobiling

John Gardner invited me to go with him and his roommates. I didn’t feel good that morning but Kaity told me I’d better go or I might not get my chance again! So I went! At first John and I were just pulled up a hill by one of them and then went sledding! I finally asked if someone could take me for a ride since I’d never been before. This guy Scott said sure. He took me for a way long ride and I loved it! I think I like them better than 4-Wheelers! I'm pretty sure this is the guy that took me but can't remember...

#53- Stay up wake boarding for more than 5 seconds

I went to Lake Powell with the Reeder family in August 5th through the 10th in 2010. It was the second time I had been and was wonderful. I tried wakeboarding one day with really no luck. I let it all sink in over the next 2 days what I had learned and tried a second time. It had been two years since I had stayed up for 5 seconds. The second time I tried, we had a pole which I think gave me a lot of lift. I stayed up for a whole 7 seconds. I sure beat 5 but hope some day it will be at least a minute.

This picture is from the actual time I was up for 7seconds

#60- Have a flour fight

Joe Heeb and I were FHE co-chairs this summer which was fun because we both have Bucket Lists and tried to incorporate some items into FHE. This was one of them. Joe, Timbler, and I met up at WalMart a couple hours before FHE and bought a ton of flour and nylons. We spent about an hour or more filling up nylons with flour at the church and then set up cones and made a dodge ball like war zone. When everyone showed up we taped one team and the others did not have tape. Each team picked a captain and the object of the game was to get the other teams captain the whitest. The captain was allowed 3 protectors. You could cross the middle line to try to hit the captain but if you got hit by someone else you had to drop your nylon weapons and go back on your side. The entire thing lasted about 30 to 45 minutes. We concluded that Jenn Dugan was indeed the whitest which meant that out team lost. It was still a blast though. We then proceeded to open up the nylons and have a huge flour fight until there was no more flour. It was the greatest activity ever!

Here I am holding one of the nylon weapons
Here is the entire FHE gang that participated. It was a blast!

#61- Play Apples to Apples Backwards

We went over to Kristen Grover’s house for her Birthday. We ended up playing a lot of games and happened to choose Apples to Apples. We played with the green cards in our hands and placed the red cards on the table. It was so fun and was just a refreshing way to play one of my favorite games.

#71- Create an Improv Everywhere event

Again, being FHE co-chair came in handy this summer. Joe and I came up with 3 different flash mob ideas and ended up doing all three. The first one was a freeze on 72nd Ave. We all dispursed on both sides of the street. The elders drove by and did a secret honk which froze all of us for 5 minutes until they came a second time with the honk to un-freeze us. It was so funny, especially because people were walking on the same sidewalk.

The second one was to wear our clothes backwards and shop walking backwards in Kohls for 15minutes. We just had to act normal and it was awesome! One guy asked me, “I normally wouldn’t ask but everyone in the store is walking backwards. What is going on?” I told him I had no idea what was going on and didn’t even notice that people were walking backwards. It was pretty funny!

Joe and I with our clothes on  backwards
The third one we did was to shop in slow motion in King Soopers. We froze when we hit the door and it was hilarious! Some lady told Ezra and Joe to fast forward. So funny. Some guys came up to me and were asking questions. I just responded in slow language and they were laughing so hard.

My Bucket List

Here is my Bucket List. Some are random, many are weird, some are serious, and others are ridiculous but so am I. These are some of the things I want to accomplish in my lifetime. The ones with *** in front of them are things I have already accomplished. I have decided to create a blog so I can write about the things I have accomplished on this list and hope to inspire others to make lists as well. It gives me something to look forward to and it feels good to cross items off. Enjoy! :)
